Player counts say how busy a community server is. Ratings say what it is like to play there. Anyone with a Discord account can rate a community from 1 to 5 stars, and the scores are ranked on the leaderboard.
- Open a community server's page from the server list or the rating leaderboard.
- Under Community rating, press Sign in to rate and approve the sign-in on Discord.
- Give each of the four categories 1 to 5 stars and save. You can change or remove your rating at any time.
You get one rating per community. A community's score appears once it has 10 ratings, so the first few ratings matter most.
A rating belongs to a community: the Discord server behind the invite in a server's name. Every server carrying that invite shares one rating, so a community with five servers has one score, and the score stays when a server is renamed or reinstalled.
A server with no Discord invite in its name is rated on its own.
Run a community? Put discord.gg/yourcode in each server's name in-game. That is all it takes: your servers are grouped under your Discord within a few minutes.
The game does not tell this site who played where, so a rating can't be checked against play. The score is built to make the obvious tricks pointless instead:
- Members can't carry their own community to the top. If you are in a community's Discord, your rating of it counts as half a rating. However many of its members rate it, together they count for no more than the players outside the community do (or five ratings, while fewer outsiders than that have rated).
- Rival communities can't drag each other down. If you are in the Discord of one community on this site and give a different community a low rating (2.5 stars or less on average), that rating is left out of its score. A higher rating from you counts in full.
- A handful of ratings doesn't decide a score. Every score starts in the middle (3.5) and moves as ratings arrive, and nothing is shown before 10 ratings.
- New Discord accounts can't rate. An account has to be at least 30 days old, and one account can rate up to 20 new communities a day.
Discord asks you to share two things: your account, and the list of Discord servers you are in. The list is used for one thing only: telling a community's own members and members of other rated communities apart, for the two rules above.
- Kept: a scrambled ID for your account, the date your account was created, and scrambled IDs of your Discord servers. They can't be turned back into names.
- Never kept: your name, avatar, email, messages, or any access to your account. The sign-in is used once and then revoked.
- Delete it all: on any server page, under your rating, press Delete my ratings and sign-in. A sign-in that never rated anything is deleted by itself after 30 days.
